Chemical Peeling
Chemical peeling is the name given to the process of peeling the skin with different chemical substances. Chemical peelers are classified according to the depth level of process as, superficial, medium and deep.
The commonly used superficial chemical peeling agents are the alpha hydroxy acids. Among them, glycolic and lactic acids are frequently preferred. Also, especially in the acne treatment, salicylic acid is preferred in first place. In addition to these, there are also different agents used for the deeper peeling, for example, trichloracetic acid and so on. By making processes of peeling in different depths, for different problems the skin can be fixed. Based on seriousness of the problem, the number of sessions varies between 5-15. Chemical peeling can reduce acne, wrinkle, spot, scar and fractures with the repeating applications performed.
Although it is observed rarely, the irritant contact dermatitis can occur in the chemical peeling; therefore, very good story should be taken from the patient and the skin of patient should be examined carefully before the peeling process.
It is preferred to be applied in winter period. Even in the skins without any problem, a brighter skin can be had with a few chemical peeling sessions to be applied in each winter period.
The biopsies taken show that the chemical peeling applications mature the collagen tissue, thus reduce the superficial wrinkle formation.
The sessions are applied once a week in superficial peeling, and between from 15 days to 1 month in deeper peelings.
